Thomas Muntzer was born in the 1480s. He was born in Stolberg, Thuringia and died in May 27, 1525. He was a a reformer of Germany during the Protestant Reformation. The Protestant Reformation was led by Martin Luther who despised the catholic church and started a new line of churches. Martin Luther made many writings to stop the church’s evil goal. The church sold indulges which was said to be the key to going to heaven. They also stole money from the poor peasants to grow powerful and rich. However Martin Luther stood up and wrote the 95 theses, a writing that despised the catholic church. Continuing on with Thomas Muntzer, his early life is almost unknown, but we know that he was a son of a burgher. A burgher is a citizen of a region whom is usually rich. When he was old enough he attended the University of Frankfurt and earned a master’s degree of art and theology. He was efficient at speaking many languages like Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. After graduating from Frankfurt university he saw how the peasants were treated so poorly which gave his idea to preach for the peasants. Muntzer preached about the wrongs of how the rich were treating the poor and as it was a hard time thousands of people followed Muntzer.
Ulrich Zwingli was a Swiss protestant leader born in 1484. He had multiple jobs before becoming a protestant. For example, he attended Vienna and Basle University and was a parish priest in Switzerland. As he went with soldiers attending the Hapsburg-Valois Wars he started to get interested in Humanism and Catholicism. He started his branch of protestants in called the Zurich. The Zurich Reformation claimed to be very strict with the bible. Also the 67 Articles made by Zwingli was used for city's official doctrine. A important occasion during 1524 was the meeting between Zwingli and Martin Luther to unite their beliefs. However both men failed to reunite or convince each other of the problem of what Christ said during the last supper. Luther believed it to be "this is my body", but Zwingli believed it to be a symbolism of "my". After this incident many feared the Zurich would get stronger. As a result the Zurich joined with the Austrian Church to grow bigger. Zwingli died in October 1531 during the battle of Kepel.
