The Major Battles of the German Peasants War.
During the time of war, the peasants created armies to fight off the imperial army. During this war almost 100,000 peasants died to earn their freedom. They were supported by Thomas Muntzer and Huldrych Zwingli. The first rebellion began in May, 1524, by the peasants of Black Forest. They rebelled against their landlord by refusing to work and to pay more taxes. Soon after this occasion, the peasants of Stühlingen started their own uprising whom were inspired by the peasants of Black Forest. Later, during the Kemp-ten Insurrection, the abbey peasants of Kemp-ten imAllgäu revolted and obliterated the city. After that, a group of peasants on April 4th called the Leipheim Bunch gathered around Leipheim to start a revolt against the city Ulm. The peasants started to retreat as the Swabian League advanced. More than 250 peasants were captured and taken as prisoner. During the Weinsberg Massacre, the peasants had achieved a great victory as well as their downfall. The peasants marched up to the Austrian Governor's house and took him as well as many other noblemen. The peasants forced them to run on a gauntlet of pikes which ended in 70 men getting killed. It was then Martin Luther turned against the Peasants. As the battles grew harsh and more rebels upraised. Not only was these rebels happening in Germany, but it was also happening all over Europe.
